What Hinders Victory?

True conversion changes everything! Believers are not only credited with the gift of Christ’s righteousness but they are sealed with the Spirit of God, making them partakers of a new nature. With their new life in Christ, they will have new affections, and a new power for living. Their new life will go in a new direction. They will have an inclination to walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh.

The Apostle Paul recognizes that the gospel of the finished work of Christ could be misunderstood, resulting in either licentiousness (as explained in Romans 6) or legalism (as explained in Romans 7). It is important that every believer fully lay hold of the eternal life we have been offered in Christ and break free from that which can easily rob us of an experience of Christ’s victory over the power of sin and death.

Join us this Sunday as Pastor MacAdam highlights vital truths in the sixth chapter of Romans regarding deliverance from old life with its many bondages!

More Causes for Rejoicing

Believers can rejoice in what God has done, is doing, and will do in the future. They can rejoice in their position ‘in Christ’. They can rejoice in their ongoing experience of the love of Christ. They can rejoice that they are becoming what God has already declared them to be. They can rejoice in their sufferings. Why? Because they know they are being restored to the true function for which they were created: to be beholders and reflectors of God’s glory!

As we unpack gospel truth in Paul’s letter to the Romans, we are reminded that no matter what happens in our lives, we never lose our reason for rejoicing- We belong to the Lord!

Join us this Sunday as we consider further causes for rejoicing!

Vital Truths Ignored and Suppressed

This Sunday, we champion the sanctity of human life. We also celebrate the power of the gospel to deliver us from a world of deception.

The prophet got it right: “The human heart is more deceitful than all else” (Jeremiah 17:9). By nature, we resist, twist, and suppress self-evident truths to protect our egos or justify our selfishness. The human heart develops its own ‘cancel culture,’ silencing inconvenient and unpleasant truths, especially the realities of both the righteousness and wrath of God.

The Apostle Paul reminds us in his letter to the Romans: “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.” (Romans1:18).

Suppressing the truth is highly consequential. It leads to self-deception, destructive behaviors, societal deterioration and eternal ruin.

The gospel has the power to deliver us from the residual forces that would hold us forever captive to a world of lies.

Join us this Sunday as Pastor MacAdam continues to teach from the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Romans: “Vital Truths Ignored and Suppressed” (Romans 1:18).

We will also be breaking bread together in remembrance of the only means of our deliverance.

Get In On the Grace

The Holy Spirit gives those who are saved by grace opportunities to grow in grace!

As Christians, we are called to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior (2 Peter 3:18). We will be stunted in our spiritual growth if we fail to grow in the gracious activity of giving.

When a believer is filled with the Spirit, he or she will want to do what they know pleases God. They will love to do what God loves!  In 2 Corinthians Chapter 9:7, we learn that God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:7).

God has designed us to be givers. We are encouraged to give in the light of God-given promises and possibilities. And He has given us promises that assure us that blessings abound as we practice His principles of giving.

Join us this Sunday as Pastor MacAdam expounds 2 Corinthians 8 and 9: Get In On the Grace: Practicing Biblical Principles of Giving (2 Corinthians 8 and 9)

The Tensions of the True Servant of God

It is reported that Gen Z has a growing hunger for mentors and godly examples.  It is looking for guidance in a culture that is void of clarity.

The Apostle Paul teaches that it is easier to commend an example of a genuine walk with God when circumstances are favorable. But true godliness needs to be proved when it is tested by tough times.

In the process of defending the genuineness of his gospel ministry in his second letter to the Corinthians, the Apostle Paul is giving us a portrait of what a true servant of God looks like. He is giving us a realistic picture of the tension true believers will experience as we walk in a world darkened by sin and unbelief. We are called to hold fast to what God has declared to be our new identity and purpose in Christ while we are perceived differently by those who are blinded by the god of this age.

Join us this Sunday as we are equipped to walk by faith!
